To talk about Edwin Uncle, I would say that would be in Volumes, Fro I know Him right from my childhood days when ever we visited our Grand Uncle and the Then Bishop if Dornakal ( Rt. Rev. Pereji Solomon)
Edwin Uncle was always present at the Beck and Call of my Grand Uncle!! Always looking after his needs and his comforts ...little did I knew at that time say way back in the year 1966, I was just a six year old kid, but uncle's generosity and his commitment towards his duty have simply kept me in awe!! Being the Personal Saceterary to the Bishop and then gaining the Trust with commitment Edwin Uncle moved to become one of the best treasure in the Diocese of Dornakal...He was not only a visionary to uplift the backward classes in Dornakal but as far as the Diocese was spread His works were always concerned about how well to help those people who are hungered for the Gospel. It was only a few years later that I had the opportunity to meet all his children in Dornakal... because I very well remember that uncle never allowed his children to loiter into the vicinity of the Bishops Bungalow.. But only when my paternal uncle ( Late . P.A.Padma Rao) and Edwin Uncle became co brothers ...that we started to visit them often. Without mentioning about Edwin Aunty
( Mrs.Edwin Rao) We only knew her as Edwin Aunty....she was a perfect hand maid to uncle that she was a real help to Edwin Uncle in all his endeavours. I simply cannot forget those precious days that we have spent in Dornakal and at Edwin Uncle's place . I sincerely hope that his children will definitely keep up the legacy of Edwin Uncle and Aunty in good stead, that down the generations people will remember them. May God Grant the children, grandchildren the comfort and strength to face the pressures of this world with truth and guidance from our Heavenly Father..

I know words won’t be able to do justice to the magnificent portrait of the life you had. You were a biggest inspiration, role model, and supporter to many. And though you’ve gone to rest, you remain our strength from the place of eternal rest.

Sad to hear about the passing away of Mr. M. Edwin Rao garu today. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
An Era has come to an end in Dornakal with his passing away. Mr. Edwin Rao garu was well known in the Church of South India.
He was one of the outstanding lay leaders in the CSI in general and in the Diocese of Dornakal in particular. He served as the Diocesan Treasurer for many years. He streamlined the financial management of the diocese, particularly the establishment of the Yatrik Hotel and Pisgah Complex in Nampalli as well as the Child Care Ministry through the support of the Kindernothilfe, Germany. He served with distinction during the tenure of successive Bishops in Dornakal, beginning with Bishop P. Solomon Thandrigaru.
God blessed him with long life which he utilized in the ministry of the Church. He had a very supportive family and a host of colleagues both clergy and laity.
The whole Dornakal compound must be gloomy. It is an island by itself.
Hope there is Railway cross underbridge now to go to Mission Compound.
Dornakal has history. May God bless all institutions there and the Cathedral.
Many shall remember Mr. Edwin Rao garu for many more years to come. His white T shirt was his trademark and signature dress.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
May the grace and mercy of our risen Lord be with his children and their families, strengthening them with new hope of resurrection. Dornakal Diocese will be indeed sad in his death.
With high regards for the memory of the departed church person Mr. Edwin Rao garu.

We have known Mr. Mulaka Edwin Rao our Peddanayana from our childhood days. He was a workaholic, wouldn’t have seen such a visionary and a true trailblazer in his commitment to Dornakal Diocese in particular and to Church of South India in general, a man whose legacy will be remembered for generations.
And as getting old...still he used to be vibrant... always with enriched Word for the day... following the readings of CSI Almanac morning and evening... with the personal prayer and family prayer time is his foremost priority always...
The amount of faith he exercised in life is the best part that we all can step in to carry on ✨
Always shows his bubbling joy and excitement whenever we visit him ... finding out our welfare...so much love, care and prayers...he expressed in our returning back home. The last time we met while he was in hospital on Sunday, September 8th 2024, he was trying to express his joy seeing us through his eyes.
As a Diocesan Treasurer he pioneered, and carved paths where none existed, transforming ideas into reality with the spirit of a maverick and the intellect of a genius. His role as a committed titan and luminary in his domain has inspired countless others, setting a high bar for excellence and leadership. His dedication to work along with our Grand Father Bishop Pereji Solomon has brought many KNH & CCI hostels to the diocese a blessing to thousands of children being fostered with good education, comfortable food and shelter.
A true innovator, Edwin Peddanayana embodied the qualities of a mastermind, architecting ground breaking solutions that have redefined norms and reshaped the diocese with new pastorates and planted many churches in rural areas, apart from hostels and other educational and training institutions. He is a beacon of hope and progress, a revolutionary whose impact transcends boundaries, making him not just an icon but also a champion of advancement and positive change.
His virtuosic approach to his work, coupled with a deep commitment to his ideals, has solidified his place as an exemplary leader, one whose influence is felt far and wide. Edwin Peddanayana is not just a hero in his own right, but a pathfinder, guiding many, many future generations to follow in his footsteps.
TRULY, HE IS THE PARAGON OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE CALLED A LEGEND.

Candle from Christopher Pereji
My earliest memories of Uncle Edwin Rao trace back to the summers we (Pereji families) used to spend with Bishop Solomon Thatha.
I remember Uncle Edwin Rao visiting the bungalow almost everyday. He used to be dressed impeccably, mostly in white, black shiny shoes, his dark wavy hair neatly combed. He used to listen to Thatha very attentively, nodding frequently, showing great respect to Thatha. I understood Uncle Edwin Rao was an important person, but I didn't quite know in what way. His office was close by, staff at the bungalow took his instructions seriously.
I did my 8th and 9th grades at the Dornakal Diocesan High School. During those two years, I understood that Uncle Edwin Rao shouldered the responsibility of carrying out Thatha's travel schedules, running the Diocesan Office, the printing press, overseeing construction, and variety of important things pertaining to the school, hostels, the cathedral, clergy, and so on.
Later in my life, I started my career in 1976, as a junior lecturer at Bishop Solomon Junior College, which was also known as the Dornakal Diocesan Junior College. During the two years that followed, i gained a deeper understanding of the variety of roles Uncle Edwin Rao performed. As the personal secretary to Thatha, he was responsible to translate every vision of Thatha into action. He was a man of great discipline, stamina, and resourcefulness. He executed every plan to the minute details. Every matter pertaining to Thatha, the bungalow, the mission schools, college, and hostels in and around Dornakal had Uncle Edwin Rao's blessing, and supervision. My colleagues and I used to receive our paychecks signed by Uncle Edwin Rao, and the envelopes had our names in Uncle Edwin Rao's own steady handwriting.
As the Treasurer of the Diocese of Dornakal, Uncle Edwin Rao was instrumental in pioneering many unique projects.
During 1976-78, I had the privilege of knowing Uncle Edwin Rao as a man who loved his family. I am a fortunate recipient of kindness and warm hospitality that Mrs.Edwin Rao (Auntie) extended to everyone.
My brother Wellington shared a heart-warming report of the Memorial Service, and the celebration of the life and legacy of Uncle Edwin Rao. I continue to lift each and every member of the Mulaka family in my prayers. You are truly blessed to have had the love, legacy, and the faith of Uncle Edwin Rao shape your lives. I am truly thankful for the blessing that he was to me.
Rest in eternal peace, Uncle Rdwin Rao. You continue to live in our hearts.
